HomeMy WebLinkAbout24-011BOARD OF SUFENVS COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFOU Resolution No. 24-011 FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN BUTTE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES FROM JULY 1, 2023 TO JUNE 30, 2028 WHEREAS, In Fiscal Year 2022-23, the Fire Department applied for two Community Wildfire Defense Grants (CWDG) through the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) to support the Defensible Space Enforcement Program and the South Paradise Hazard Fuel Reduction project for total awarded amount of $6,400,000; and WHEREAS, the grant for the Defensible Space Enforcement Program (DESP) is for $4,900,000 over 5 years and provides resources for inspection, prevention and enforcement related activities within Butte County Fire Department's jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, staffing resources are necessary to implement the program objectives of the grant; and WHEREAS, the grant for the South Paradise Hazard Fuel Reduction project has been awarded for $1,500,000 and will fund one time purchase of a capital asset as well as the operating and maintenance costs over 5 years; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby accepts the grant funds and desires to enter into an agreement with California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) dated July 1, 2023, which will provide Fire Protection Services during the State fiscal year 2023-2024 thru 2027-2028, approves capital asset purchase and budget adjustments in support of these grants, and authorizes the Butte County Fire Chief to sign related documents. vote PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 23d day of January 2024, by the following AYES: Supervisor Durfee, Connelly, Ritter, Teeter and Chair Kimmelshue NOES: None ABSENT: None / ABSTAIN: None ATTEST: Andy Pickett, Chief Administrative Officer andClerk of the Board of Supervisors By: \J Deputy Tod Kimme shue, Chair Butte Cou ty Board of Supervisors
