3.28 Letter of Support for the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 - On January
16, 2024 a new bipartisan tax proposal the, "Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act
of 2024," was announced. This bill includes Congressman Doug LaMalfa's proposal to exempt
wildfire relief payments from federal income taxes, providing tax relief to Camp Fire survivors.
The bill is scheduled to be heard in the House Way and Means Committee in the coming days
and, if passed, will move to the floor of the House for a vote. If passed by the House it will then
go to the Senate for consideration. Staff recommend letters of support for the legislation to the
County's federal delegation - action requested - APPROVE LETTERS OF SUPPORT. (County
