Dear Ms. Mackall,
We are in receipt of your letter requesting information specific to the parcel referenced above. This office has
reviewed and provided approval for the Tentative Subdivision Map for Sierra Moon Subdivision for Phase 5. The
Final Subdivision Map for Phase 5, which includes 18 parcels, either has been or will be recorded. The
subdivision is located approximately two miles north of Chico city limits.
Water for this subdivision is to be supplied by the Sierra Moon Mutual Water Company a property owner
mutually owned, operated and maintained water service. Two production wells have been drilled and have
been brought on line. Every parcel is required to connect to this community water system. Butte County
Environmental Health will regulate this water system.
Sewage treatment and dispersal for the subdivision is to be provided by a community wastewater treatment
and dispersal facility located on Lot E, which is held in common for the benefit of the Owner's Association. The
ongoing operation and maintenance of the system is the responsibility of the Sierra Moon Owner's Association
under the direction of the Regional Water Quality Control Board's Wastewater Discharge Requirements for the
treatment facility. Every residential parcel is required to connect to the community wastewater system. In
addition, every residential parcel is required to install a septic tank with an effluent pump (STEP) on the parcel
and connect it to the sewage collection lines within the street utility easements via a private sewage lateral.
Plans, application, and required fees for the construction of the STEP system must be submitted to our office at
the time of application for building permit for the dwelling and is a condition for building permit clearance.
Feel free to contact me directly at 530-552-3869 with any further questions.
Sincerely,
Nikolay Ostrovskiy, Senior Program Manager
