bridge repair work on the East 20th Street
overcrossing at State Route 99 (SR 99) in
Chico. Work is scheduled to begin tonight
through Thursday, May 1, following damage
from a recent high-load impact.
Motorists should be aware of the following
traffic impacts:
· East 20th Street: The eastbound
lane along East 20th Street
overcrossing will have a full closure
from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
· State Route 99: Northbound SR 99

Emergency Repairs Scheduled for East 20th Street Overcrossing in Chico
Overnight Closure of Northbound State Route 99
will have a lane closure starting at 6
p.m. followed by a full closure from 9
p.m. to 4 a.m. From 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.
SR 99 will have a one lane closure.
SR 99 will fully reopen at 6 a.m.
Northbound traffic will be diverted off
the highway via the East 20th Street
off-ramp and re-enter the highway
using the on-ramp (See Detour Map)
Additional intermittent lane closures and traffic control with potential full closures of SR 99 are expected
throughout the repair period and will be posted as the work is scheduled. The schedule is subject to
change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.
Drivers are advised to plan for delays, follow detour signs, and use alternate routes when possible.
Caltrans will issue updates as the work progresses. These repairs are necessary to ensure the
continued safety of the traveling public.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento
Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in
construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
