Today CSAC rounds up the week by talking to Tanya Torno of Riverside County, an outstanding leader who believes in endless possibilities. Join us for a short interview highlighting county leadership. Tanya Torno Deputy Director, Department of Housing and Workforce Solutions, Riverside County How do you explain to others what you do? As the Deputy Director of Riverside County's Homeless Continuum of Care, I am responsible for overseeing the implementation and coordination of programs and services aimed at addressing homelessness in the county. What drew you to public service? I knew very early on I wanted to be part of something meaningful and started my journey working for different non-profits serving children and young adults. Transitioning to the County presented an exciting chance to have a greater impact on the larger community, so when the opportunity came, I enthusiastically embraced it. Everyday has been fulfilling, and helping people work through their challenges and embracing opportunities that begin and come through obtaining housing, has been the best reward. What’s the best piece of advice that you ever received? Great leaders take risks. This is important because as a public servant we have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community we are serving. The possibilities are endless as long as you continue to take chances and face challenges head on. Three A’s: What’s your favorite Artist, Attraction, and Appetizer? Red Hot Chili Peppers, Currently Napa Valley, and I love fried Zucchini as a starter with a big side of ranch! ----------- Thank You for all that You do in strengthening our communities.
