The reopening will involve one-way traffic control along a one-mile stretch near Cresta. This setup is crucial as construction activities continue for the $58.8 million Pulga Project. The project started in February 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Key improvements include elevating the existing roadway and reinforcing the embankment with a retaining wall to better withstand future flooding. Additionally, an 8-foot shoulder will be provided along that stretch of highway. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to stay alert, follow all traffic signs, and anticipate minor delays due to the ongoing construction and one-way traffic control. Motorists are encouraged to check Caltrans’ QuickMap before traveling for current road conditions or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play. Road information is also available on Caltrans’ website or by calling the California Highway Information Network automated phone service at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623). Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties.
