Mandate a statewide moratorium on policy cancellations and non-renewals for properties in counties affected by wildfires for at least one year following a state of emergency. 2. Enact state income tax deductions for fire insurance premiums to provide financial relief to families and businesses burdened by rising costs. 3. Expand and reform the California FAIR Plan to ensure broader, more affordable coverage options for those in high-risk areas. The second letter, to President Trump, requests the federal government to streamline Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service regulations to expedite the approval of fuel reduction, vegetation management, and mitigation programs. Both letters were sent to reinforce and provide additional assistance to the already excellent work carried out in all jurisdictions by local fire departments and our respective CALFIRE units. Whether you reside in a rural, suburban, or urban county, recent events have reminded ever one in California that wildfire can strike an where, and fire is now a ear-round risk for homeowners and commercial property owners. As the 2025 Chair of the Shasta County Board of Supervisors, I implore you to act and join our efforts in communicating with the Governor, the President, and California Legislators on behalf of your county. Copies of both letters should be available from your Clerk of the Board, if they are not already in your inbox. Thank you for your time and consideration, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or desire to discuss this matter further. Sincerely, Kevin W.
