Subject: Support for Proposed Modifications to the BCTBID
Dear Honorable Chair and Board Member,
As the representative of Oxford Suites and the newly opened Hotel Káterina, as well as a boardmember of Explore Butte County, I am writing to express my strong support for the proposedmodifications to the Butte County Tourism Business Improvement District (BCTBID), as outlinedby Explore Butte County, the designated Owners’ Association.
The proposed amendments—specifically the removal of the room-count threshold, the inclusionof short-term vacation rentals, scheduled assessment rate adjustments, and the revised term ofthe district—will establish a more equitable and inclusive funding model. These changes are vitalto enhancing our collective ability to attract overnight visitors and increase tourism-driveneconomic impact across all communities in Butte County.
Explore Butte County has consistently demonstrated responsible stewardship of BCTBID funds, achieving measurable results through targeted marketing, comprehensive visitor services, androbust destination development. As a participating business in the district, I have witnessedfirsthand the significant benefits of coordinated investments in tourism promotion. The stabilityprovided by a long-term funding structure is invaluable for businesses like ours that rely on asustainable and effective tourism strategy.
For these reasons, I respectfully urge the Board of Supervisors to approve the proposedmodifications as detailed in the updated Management District Plan.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,Jason OlivaresOxford SuitesHotel KáterinaBoard Member, Explore Butte County
