As a passionate advocate for tourism and destination marketing in Butte County, as well as a former owner and operator of lodging—including short-term vacation rentals—I firmly believe these enhancements are vital for our community. The proposed adjustments, which include the elimination of the room-count threshold, the incorporation of short-term vacation rentals, scheduled assessment rate revisions, and a redefined term for the district, will foster a more equitable and thorough funding structure. These changes are crucial for bolstering our collective efforts to attract overnight visitors and maximize the tourism-driven economic impact across all of Butte County's communities. Explore Butte County has consistently demonstrated its commitment to being a responsible steward of BCTBID funds, yielding measurable returns in marketing, visitor services, and destination development. As an active participant in the district, I can personally attest to the significant benefits generated through coordinated tourism promotion and the importance of a stable, long-term funding source dedicated to the needs of assessed businesses. I strongly encourage the Board of Supervisors to approve the proposed modifications as detailed in the updated Management District Plan. Thank you for considering the positive impact these changes will have on our region.
