Geofencing is a location-based technology that creates a virtual boundary around a specific geographic area using
global positioning systems (GPS), radio frequency identification (RFID), Wi-Fi, or cellular data. When you enter or exit
a “defined area” with your smart phone, pre-programmed actions will be triggered. What do I mean by pre-
programmed actions? Think of notifications being sent (AI-based tattle tailing), tracking movements (stalking), or
enabling/disabling certain features (you no eat today because you ‘broke our rules’).
