Washington, D.C. 20426 Re: Bucks Creek Hydroelectric Project, FERC No. 619-CA-CA Request for Extension of Time – Historic Properties Evaluation Plan, National Register of Historic Places Evaluation Forest Service 4(e) Condition No. 58 Dear Secretary Reese: Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) respectfully requests approval for an extension of time to complete the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) evaluations for three unevaluated sites associated with PG&E and the City of Santa Clara’s (Licensees) Bucks Creek Hydroelectric Project, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Project No. 619. FERC issued a new license for the Bucks Creek Project on June 16, 2022. Article 404 of the license requires the Licensees to implement the approved Programmatic Agreement and Historic Properties Management Plan (HPMP). Additionally, United States Forest Service (Forest Service) 4(e) Condition No. 58 requires implementation of the HPMP. As part of the HPMP, an evaluation plan was developed for three unevaluated archaeological sites. PG&E filed the Historic Properties Evaluation Plan (HPEP) with FERC on June 10, 2024, and FERC approved the plan on June 28, 2024. PG&E has made progress in securing a qualified specialist to conduct the evaluations. Fieldwork at two of the three sites is scheduled to begin this fall. The evaluation of the third site is planned to commence in fall 2026. PG&E intends to conduct agency consultations with the Forest Service and SHPO following completion of all evaluations . PG&E is respectfully requesting to submit the NRHP reports for all three sites to FERC by December 31, 2027. PG&E will provide progress updates on the evaluations during the annual HPMP meetings and include updates in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 HPMP reports, which are filed with FERC annually by September 30.
