Depending on where the call is located in the community, either location may be necessary. Growing up, my mother was a volunteer fire fighter and response times are critical. She was able to get to the Ishi Trail station, grab the engine and was often the first to arrive to the call within the Concow Basin. Now at least 3 other volunteers that I know of are close to this station. Since only certified drivers are able to operate engines, moving it away from Ishi Trail would increase response times for events in the area. This is why it's so critical to keep an engine at the end of Ishi Trail as well. These volunteers in that area that can use the engine to respond instead of driving past the station to get the engine out by hwy 70 only to drive back in with the engine from the other station. My understanding is there's general support for keeping both locations with available engines and lives, fire sizes and ultimately response times depend on the engine being accessible and ready in the event of an emergency. Thank you for hearing us, Concow property owner, Amber Pierce
