I have lived the the Concow/Yankee Hill community for over 30 years. I have lost my home twice to wildfire; one in the 2001 Poe Fire and one in the 2018 Camp Fire. I support keeping FS 38 open because I live in the Concow Basin and response time for emergencies in our area is so important. Over half of the emergency calls to Golden Feather Volunteer Fire Company come from the Concow Basin and Jordan Hill Road areas. The response time will be at least 30 minutes quicker if a fire truck is housed at FS 38. This could be the difference between life or death with medical emergencies. Two of the certified Firefighter volunteers who can drive the fire truck currently live in the Concow Basin and a third volunteer who also lives there is currently in the process of becoming certified to drive as well. One other benefit is that FS 38 has operational doors even if the power is cut off. We have frequent public safety power shutoffs due to extreme wind and heat related high fire danger. There would be no cost to the county as maintenance and utilities have been paid for by community funds and the local Golden Feather Volunteer Fire Company 501c3. There is also a community fund and support committed to the operation of FS 38. Please support our local Fire Station in the Concow Basin. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Clara Lowe
