You are in violation of Title 19, Section 3.24 of the California Code of Regulations
for failure to repair the emergency exit lighting at the main entrance of the dance
hall. You have three days from your receipt of this leiter to repair the lights. If you
fail to comply with this order your business will be closed until repairs are made.
In addition, the Butte County Building Department has no record of a permit issued
for the installation of the shower next to the juice bar. You have a significant
electrical shock hazard in that the electrical duplex plugs are too close to the shower.
Contact the Building Department immediately to correct the pernut issue and refrain
from using the shower until they have approved its installation.

Dear Mr. Dalin,
Thank you for correcting the fire and life safety violations in your building. As a
reminder, the Butte County Building Departinerrt has no record of a permit issued
for the installation of the shower next to the juice bar. You have a significant
electrical shock hazard in that the electrical duplex plugs are too close to the open
shower stall. Contact the Building Department unmediatelY to correct the permit

Until today's first re -inspection only Items 5 and 6 had been corrected. Item
8 was not evident as there were no strips in use. The emergency lights
required as item #5 were not working in the test mode.
In addition to the original 10 items needing correction I have added ten (10)
additional that need correction:
11. Remove thumb -latch dead bolt from emergency exit between
bathrooms.
12. Provide a commercial door -closer on the door noted above
(item 11) and remove the temporary spring.
13. Provide emergency lighting with battery back up in the
hallway leading to the bathrooms.
14. All exit lighting must remain on when the power goes off
repair battery back-up.
15. Place all exposed wiring in conduit to satisfy Butte County
Building Department and California Electrical Code
specifications. Elirniriate all extension cords—use surge
protected power strips.
16. Remove floor dead bolts on double exit doors leading to
Highway 99 parking lot.
17. Fire extinguisher in main showroom (east wall) needs annual
servicing.
18. Replace all extension cords with permanent wiring.
19. Mount fire extinguisher in dressing room on wall next to
exit top no more than 5 feet from floor.
20. Remind all employees who use dressing room to unplug hair -
grooming devices before they leave.
In addition, until the emergency exit lighting and signs are repaired
and the exit door dead -bolts are removed you are required to have
one employee next to each exit from the main showroom—each with
a `Nvorl ing7 flashlight --during all performances in which the public
is present.
Items 1, 11, 1210 1314 14 and 16 must be repaired within 7 days. These
are the critical life safety items that require a firewatch until they are
completed. The .remainder of the corrections must be completed in
30 days from your receipt of this letter.

Section 13108(c) of the California Health and Safety Code. The purpose was to determine
compliance with the minimum fire and life safety standards required by Titles 19 and 24 of
the California Code of Regulations.
The attached report is to advise you of the actions that are required to correct the
noted deficiencies.
To insure this facility is brought into compliance within a reasonable time, please

1. The maximum occupant load was calculated to be 165 people in the assembly area.
The occupant load shall be posted in a conspicuous location by an approved sign
having a contrasting color from the background to which it is attached.
[19 CCR 3.30]
2. All drapes hangings, curtains, drops, and other decorative material shall be made
from a nonflammable material, or shall be treated and maintained in a flame-retardant
condition by means of a flame-retardant solution or process approved by the State
Fire Marshal. [19 CCR 3.081
3. Exit doors from Group A Occupancies having an occupant load of 50 or more shall
not be provided with a latch or lock unless it is panic hardware.
EXCEPTION: In Group A Division 3 occupancies, panic hardware may be
omitted from the main exit when the main exit consists of a
single door or pair of doors. A key -locking device may be used
in place of the panic hardware, provided there is a readily
visible durable sign adjacent to the door stating "This door
must remain unlocked whenever the building is occupied".
When unlocked, the single door or both leaves of a pair of
doors must be free to swing without operation of any latching
device. When a pair of doors is installed, one leaf shall have no
locking devices whatsoever, and the second leaf shall be
arranged to latch or lock into the frame and into the first leaf in
such a manner that a single unlocking action will unlock both
leaves simultaneously. [1995 CBC 1016.4]
4. Illuminated exit signs shall be installed in the following locations:
a. On the upper portion of the wall in front of the main exit.
b. Above the entrance to the corridor serving the dressing rooms and north east
exit.
C. Above the north east exterior exit door. [1995 CBC 1013.1]
5. Afire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2A IOBC shall be mounted in plain
sight in each of the following locations:
a. Behind the bar.
b. On the wall near the fire place.
C. Dressing/Locker room.
d. Rest room hallway (may be installed in a "break glass" cabinet).
6. The exterior exit door serving the rest room corridor is not a required exit, however
it would constitute a dead-end of more than 20 feet if it is not maintained in a
functional manner. The door may be identified as; "Emergency Exit Only" and/or it
may be alarmed.
