Approval of the administrative permit allows the dwelling unit to be rented on a short-term basis (i.e., for periods less than 30 continuous days). The terms of the permit are in effect for one year from the date of approval, after which the permit will expire. Prior to the expiration, our office will mail a notice of the permit’s pending expiration, together with information on renewing the permit. The Certificate of Approval and permit conditions must be posted inside the rental property, in a prominent interior location within 6 feet of the front door. Additional required documents, including the community’s emergency evacuation plan and maps, right to farm disclosure, and instructions on reporting transient occupancy taxes, may be obtained on the County’s Short-Term Rental webpage: https://www.buttecounty.net/420/Short-Term-Rentals-Ordinance Please be aware that administrative permits for short-term rentals do not transfer to a new owner upon a change of property ownership.
