It is the duty of every owner and occupant of real property wit~h�n the nincorporated area of Butte County to compile with the fire break
requirements specified in Butte County,California,code of ordinances Chapter 38A to prevent fire hazards from arising on,or existing upon,his or
her property.A failure to comply with the mandatory duty set forth in this section by failing to prevent fire hazards from arising on,or existing upon,
one's property is unlawful and punishable as a misdemeanor.
All firebreaks required shall be created and maintained by mowing to maximum height of three(3)inches,discing or removing the annual weeds and
grasses and other rank growth which is the primary flammable vegetation,and by removing obstructions.
Do not mow on windy days or on extreme weather conditions.If you start a fire while clearing you may be cited and billed for fire suppression
costs in accordance with California Law,Health and Safety Code,Section 13001.

Agricultural lands:38A-8e Non-irrigated pasture lands
Requires firebreaks of one hundred(100)feet around all inhabited residences
Requires firebreaks of thirty(30)feet wide around all uninhabited buildings
Requires firebreaks of thirty(30)feet wide around all property lines
Shrubs:38A-8g Shrubs:Specimen shrubs may be retained within firebreaks provided that:
Spacing at a distance equal to no less than three{3)times their widest diameter,and are more than fifteen(15)feet from
other specimens or buildings
Shrubs free of dead wood and litter
Shrubs shall be trimmed a minimum of two(2)feet up from the ground or one-third(1/3)of their height
Trees:38A-8h Trees:Specimen trees may be retained within firebreaks provided that:
✓ Dead wood and litter in trees
All conifer specimens shall be trimmed of limbs to a minimum of one-third(1/3)of their height from the ground or twelve
(12)feet up from the ground
All non-conifer specimens shall have ail limbs under one(1)inch in diameter removed to a point one-third(1/3)of the
height of the tree above the ground or twelve(12)feet up from the ground
Crowns of adjacent specimens are not interlaced

Green lawns,ice plant,green ivy,and other plants must be maintained in a state so as to resist the spread of fire
