The signal is now tentatively scheduled to be activated by December 31, pending final installation and testing. Signal activation was originally planned for earlier this week; however, the work was delayed due to parts availability and subcontractor scheduling. The intersection is currently operating with stop-controlled access on County Road P and uninterrupted traffic flow on SR 32, consistent with conditions prior to signal installation. While the signal infrastructure is fully installed, additional replacement parts and coordination with a specialized subcontractor are required before the signal can be placed into full operation. Once all components are in place, electrical crews will activate the signal and transition the intersection to full signalized operation. The signal installation is part of a safety improvement effort to improve traffic operations and reduce collisions along the SR 32 corridor between Orland and Hamilton City. The project also included shoulder work, pavement improvements, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades and roadway striping. Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. Caltrans issues construction and road condition updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
