Kudos to oncologist and researcher Dr. Wafik El-Deiry (@weldeiry) for pushing forward
critical peer-reviewed work in this controversial area!
Two new papers just dropped (published January 3, 2026, in Oncotarget) despite
reported challenges including a cyberattack on the journal’s site:
1. “COVID vaccination and post-infection cancer signals: Evaluating patterns and
potential biological mechanisms” (Kuperwasser & El-Deiry)
• Explores emerging patterns in cancer data following vaccination or SARS-CoV-2
infection, including possible “signals” warranting further investigation.
2. “Hypothesis: HPV E6 and COVID spike proteins cooperate in targeting tumor
suppression by p53” (El-Deiry)
• Proposes a mechanistic hypothesis on how spike protein (from virus or vaccine) might
interact with pathways involving the key tumor suppressor p53.
Dr. El-Deiry has shared that full PDFs are available upon request due to temporary
access issues.
This aligns with ongoing debates: Some observational studies (e.g., large cohorts in
South Korea and Italy) have reported associations with increased cancer risks post-
vaccination, while major reviews (e.g., ACS, NCI, CDC) and fact-checks find no
established causal link to cancer from vaccines, emphasizing benefits against severe
COVID (especially in vulnerable groups like cancer patients).
As Dr. El-Deiry often notes: The truth will set us free—but it requires open, rigorous
science without censorship.
