Under the Act, the Service maintains lists of endangered and threatened wildlife and plant species in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) at 50 CFR 17.11 (for wildlife) and 17.12 (for plants). Section 4(c)(2)(A) of the Act requires the agency to review each listed species’ status at least once every 5 years. A 5-year review is based on the best scientific and commercial data available at the time of the review; therefore, we are requesting submission of any new information on the species below that has become available since the last review. ? Bay checkerspot butterfly ? California tiger salamander (Sonoma distinct population segment) ? Delta green ground beetle ? Fountain thistle ? Large-flowered fiddleneck ? Marin dwarf-flax ? Mission blue butterfly ? Myrtle's silverspot butterfly ? San Bruno elfin butterfly ? San Mateo thornmint ? San Mateo woolly sunflower ? Santa Clara Valley dudleya ? Sierra Nevada red fox ? Tiburon jewelflower ? Tiburon mariposa lily ? Tiburon paintbrush ? Valley elderberry longhorn beetle ? White-rayed pentachaeta These reviews will ensure listing classifications under the Act are accurate and recommend changes in status where appropriate based on the latest science. In addition to reviewing the classification of these species, the review is an opportunity to track species’ recovery progress and provides valuable information to guide future conservation efforts. You can learn more about each species by visiting the links on this page: https://www.fws.gov/office/sacramento- fish-and-wildlife/species A Notice of Initiation (NOI) was published in the Federal Register requesting submission of new information no later than May 8, 2026; however, we will continue to accept new information about any species at any time. If you would like to submit information on any of the species listed above to the Sacramento Field Office, please send that information to our Listing and Classification Division at fw8sfwocomments@fws.gov. We greatly appreciate our long-standing partnership to conserve rare species in California, and we look forward to continued coordination in the future. If you would like additional information or have any questions about the NOI, please contact myself at (916) 414–6626 or amber_aguilera@fws.gov.
