The Department Summary should make clear that additional amendments
to chapter 38A were approved June 24, 2025. And that of the thousands
of parcels not in compliance, very few are escalated to Code
Enforcement.
Accela does not share enforcement case information as generously as
TRAKiT did, so my statistics are a bit out of date. When I last had
the chance to compile the scoreboard, it read 147 for Magalia, 3 for
Durham, 1 each for rural Biggs 95917 and rural Gridley 95948. The
majestic equality of the 2021 ordinance was seldom felt in the LRA
to which it technically applied, and the 2025 ordinance appears to
be more of the same. Look carefully at the task list on page 203 and
consider how many suburban parcels do not comply.
Supervisors and the public should be aware that JW Bamford, Greentek,
and P31, the selected vendors for this contract and for item 4.5,
all operate out of the same building.
Mastication and chainsaws will not provide as much return on the
remaining Honey Fire dollars as would outreach and education.
