Dear Frank L. Blackett:
This letter presents Pacific Gas and Electric Company's (PG&E) responses to Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) comments regarding an external audit of PG&E’s
owner’s dam safety program (ODSP). PG&E retained a panel of dam safety experts to
conduct the audit in 2021 and submitted the panel’s audit report (dated February 2022) to
your office on May 23, 2022. In a May 16, 2024, letter to PG&E, FERC provided five
comments on the audit report.
PG&E appreciates FERC’s review of the audit report and acknowledges Comments 1
through 4 (C-1 through C-4), which do not require responses. For reference, Comment 5
(C-5) reads as follows:
5. Provide an updated ODSP or a plan and schedule for doing so.
In accordance with FERC’s request, please find the following PG&E ODSP documents
enclosed with this letter:
• Utility Policy PG-01, Dam Safety, Revision 5, dated May 7, 2024 (Enclosure 1)
• Utility Standard PG-2760S, Dam Safety Program (DSP), Revision 5, dated
November 7, 2023 (Enclosure 2)
• Current (as of June 2024) dam safety program organization and staffing charts
(Enclosure 3)
