PRESS RELEASE
CANCELED: Oroville Fireworks Show and 4th of July Family Fun Event
OROVILLE, CA - July 3, 2024 –The Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce and the California
Department of Parks & Recreation have had to make the decision to cancel the Oroville
Fireworks Show and the 4th of July Family Fun Event at the Nelson Sports Complex.
We received confirmation from the California Department of Parks & Recreation on the morning
of July 3 that they will not be able to support the Oroville Fireworks Show at the Forebay this
year due to the Thompson Fire. The Forebay is currently being used as a resource for the fire
and will be closed through Friday.
The funds that have been raised for the Oroville Fireworks Show will be used for a future event
in Oroville. We appreciate everyone who has shown support for this event. Due to the Fireworks
Show being canceled, the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce has decided to cancel the 4th
of July Family Fun Event at the Nelson Sports Complex.
Unfortunately, these events have been canceled in the interest of public safety. We have pivoted
to updating the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page with resource information
on the Thompson Fire.
We will be open on July 3 to answer any questions on the 4th of July or the Thompson Fire. Our
office will be closed on July 4th, but staff will be monitoring emails for any questions. Please feel
free to contact us with any questions.
