OROVILLE LIBRARY TO OFFER SUMMER MEALS FOR YOUTH
LUNCH PROVIDED NOON TO 1:00 PM, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, STARTING MONDAY, JULY 8
OROVILLE, Calif. – Butte County Library is very pleased to announce that meals have been sourced for the
annual Lunch at the Library program, now in its eighth year of service to Oroville kids and families. Meals will
be served Monday through Friday in the Oroville Library conference room at 1820 Mitchell Avenue, from Noon
until 1:00 PM. Children can look forward to a variety of activities during the lunch service, including art, music,
and engagement with the Summer Reading Program, enabling them to earn prizes for reading.
Meal service has been made possible through the efforts of an extensive coalition of community partners,
including Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Oroville City Council member, Shawn Webber, Oroville Walmart, Pacific
Coast Producers, Jordan Crossing, Oroville Rescue Mission, and Oroville Police Chief, Bill LaGrone. The
dedication of these individuals and agencies has made Oroville’s Lunch at the Library initiative possible
through Friday, August 9, 2024.
The USDA Summer Meals Study states that: Hungry children are at increased risk of iron deficiency anemia
and depression, as well as chronic conditions like Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease. Lunch at the Library is
a project of the California State Library, supported with funds from the State of California.
