HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.31.24 Board Correspondence - EOC UpdateFrom:Jessee, Meegan To:BOS Subject:EOC Update Date:Wednesday, July 31, 2024 12:59:11 PM Good afternoon – When I started this email it was a morning update, looks like its afternoon now. A few things. The latest Damage Inspection reports show 258 destroyed structures in Butte County, including 154 residences. Inspections are just over half completed, so this number is likely to increase. We had our first meeting with CalOES today re: debris removal and will request state debris removal by end of day. However in order to move forward on debris removal we minimally need approval for state CDAA assistance. Shelter numbers are down to 26 people. Staff from the Department of Employment and Social Services is working with these evacuees – many of whom lost homes and are without insurance and other resources. Aside from the housing navigator and our typical resources for folks at risk for homelessness, without a federal declaration, we have little to offer these folks. We will be talking with our federal and state partners to make sure they understand the need for state CDAA in order to move forward with debris removal and a federal declaration to support survivors and debris. Alone we likely do not meet federal thresholds, but sometimes the state will group multiple fires in the federal ask. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions- Meegan
