RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY THE PARK FIRE ARE ENCOURAGED TO RECLAIM THEIR PETS
Butte County, Ca – Since July 24th, Butte County Animal Control and North Valley Animal Disaster Group
have sheltered over 186 large and small animals and provided service to 396 locations for animals that
have been sheltered-in-place that were directly affected by the Park Fire. As residents have been able to
return to home or settle into alternative living spaces, many of the animals have been reclaimed; however,
at the present time, 104 remain sheltered.
It is in the best interest of the pet’s emotional and physical health to be reunited with their owner as soon as
possible. Butte County Animal Control encourages pet owners to reclaim their pet(s). Animal shelters will
continue to operate and serve pet owners who are located in an evacuation order or do not have the
capability to reclaim their pets at this time. Owners who are unable to care for their animals are encouraged
to check with friends or family who may be available to foster them.
Picking up Your Animal from the Shelter:
Animal owners need to bring a photo ID and a copy of the animal intake form when picking up their pet(s).
Photo ID will be verified with the animal intake form on file. You will need to provide transportation for your
animal when leaving the shelter. Our animal reunification teams will work with owners to support animals
during this transition and may have supplies available.
If your pet is missing or you have questions regarding animal shelters, please reach out to North Valley
Animal Disaster Group’s Hotline at 530.895.0000.
Butte County Animal Shelters:
Animal Shelters are operating between the hours of 8am-8pm at the following locations:
Large Animal Shelter – Camelot Equestrian Park: 1985 Clark Road, Oroville
Small Animal Shelters – Del Oro: 2279 Del Oro, Oroville
Lost Animals:
A website is now available to help reunite lost pets with their owners.
Visit https://24petconnect.com/event/parkfire to see a photo of every lost pet currently housed at small
animal shelter. Anyone who sees their pet on the website should or go to the small animal shelter located
at 2279 Del Oro in Oroville during operating hours. Hours of operation are currently 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily,
but may change as this disaster evolves. Check www.buttecounty.net for the most current hours of
operations before visiting the shelter.
Park Fire Animal Disaster Response groups want to make sure each pet is reunited with its family, so
please bring enough information to establish proof of ownership. Proof could include photos, a detailed
description, and last known location.
The Pet Connect website will be updated with any new lost pets as they come in to the shelter.
