Good morning, Supervisor Teeter and Supervisor Connelly.
Forest leadership on the Plumas and Mendocino National Forests would like to invite you to
the groundbreaking for the new U.S. Forest Service Fire Sation in Chico. Attached is a
copy of the full invitation and parking information. For reference, this new center is being
built within Supervisor Teeter’s District. We will be rebuilding the Brush Creek Work Center
as well within Supervisor Connelly’s District.
The groundbreaking event is scheduled for this Friday, August 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the build
site, located at 1350 Skyway at the Chico Seed Orchard.
Please join us afterwards for a reception at the Butte County Search and Rescue building
located at 3965 Morrow Lane on the eastern side of the Chico Seed Orchard.
The reception location will also host a Smokey Bear 80th Birthday Party for families of area
emergency responders, Forest Service partners and Mendocino and Plumas National
Forest employees.
The approximately $13 million new facility will house the Feather River Interagency
Hotshots, an engine, and serve as a training center. Funding for the project is through
Disaster Relief.
We understand with fire season that the timing is not ideal. However, it also illustrates the
importance of this new facility to support wildland firefighters. If you cannot make it for the
groundbreaking, we hope you can join us for the ribbon cutting and opening of the facility,
expected fall 2025.
Please let me know if there are any questions or if you plan to attend.
Thank you!
- Tamara
