Thank you. Miranda FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 8, 2024 CONTACT Miranda Bowersox Butte County Public Information Officer 530.282.2146 BUTTE COUNTY ISSUES A SECOND LOCAL EMERGENCY PROCLAMATION IN RESPONSE TO DEVASTATING FIRES Oroville, Ca—Butte County has experienced a number of fires this summer. While the Thompson Fire and Park Fire have received a lot of attention, many smaller fires have also impacted our communities, causing significant devastation. In addition to the impacts of the Thompson and Park Fires; the Apache Fire, Grubbs Fire, and Railbridge Fire burned hundreds of acres of land and destroyed over 20 structures, bringing the total number of structures lost in the Summer 2024 Butte County Fires to 485. In an effort to ensure Butte County is in the best possible position to respond to the combined impacts of multiple fires, on August 6, 2024, Butte County Chief Administrative Officer, Andy Pickett, issued a local emergency proclamation for the Summer 2024 Butte County Fires. “In approximately one month’s time, Butte County experienced five devastating fires. Response and recovery efforts are ongoing, and the impacts to our communities are significant,” Pickett said. “A local emergency proclamation helps us better respond to the needs of our community, allows us to request additional resources and also ensures regulations that may hinder response and recovery efforts are waived.” ### Miranda Bowersox Communications/Public Information Officer Butte County Administration 25 County Center Drive, Oroville Ca. 95965 T. 530.552.3320 M. 530.282.2146 Twitter | Facebook | YouTube | Pinterest
