Subject: Supervisor Appointments in Lieu - Paradise Recreation and Park District
September 3, 2024 Attention: Clerk of the Board, Butte County Board of SupervisorsAgenda Item: Appointments in Lieu - Paradise Recreation and Park District I am sending you this email to let you know that I am a strong advocate for placing JohnStonebreaker into the open position on the PRPD Board. As a proactive community volunteer andmember of the PGE & Magalia Leadership Alliance, the Editor of the Nugget (distribution: 3,370POA property owners), and Vice President on the POA Executive Board for the last five years, Ihave had many opportunities to witness John's unsurpassable intelligence, his mastery at problem-solving, and the passionate commitment he has demonstrated in his efforts to help our communitymaintain its resilience. Magalia has long needed a representative on the PRPD Board, and I can't think of anyone whowould fill that need better than John Stonebreaker. He is a respected and highly valued Magalia icon, and the PRPD Board would be lucky to have him. Though, in the past, there have been bothMagalians and Paradisians running for the PRPD Board, it's believed the latest disheartening defeatof Magalia candidates was due to Paradise having the largest voting populace. And…there were alsothose Magalians who did not vote because they didn’t know PRPD’s boundaries included Magalia. Why would they when Paradise is happily home to five parks and Magalia to only one proposedpark that has been sitting vacant and in weeds for the last two years? Please give Magalia a much-needed voice. Thank you all for your time. Your consideration in appointing John Stonebreaker to the PRPD Boardis very much appreciated. Kathi Hiatt
