California Fish and Game Commission Wildlife Heritage and Conservation Since 1870 Update to Notice of Decision Not to Proceed Greetings, This message is to clarify Friday’s notice regarding a white sturgeon rulemaking that is not proceeding. Click here to visit our regulations page This email was sent to clerkoftheboard@buttecounty.net from the California Natural Resources Agencyutilizing govDelivery. California Natural Resources Agency, 715 P Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 The Commission acted at its June 2024 meeting to make white sturgeon a candidate species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). Subsequently, the Commission adopted an emergency regulation that allows catch-and-release take of white sturgeon. The rulemaking that is not proceeding is now unnecessary since the Commission intends to consider adopting through a regular rulemaking the emergency catch-and-release regulation. For additional questions regarding the Commission’s white sturgeon rulemakings, please contact Commission Wildlife Advisor Ari Cornman at fgc@fgc.ca.gov.
