ADVOCACY RECAPS Back to Top 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: Administration of Justice Policy Committee The Administration of Justice (AOJ) Policy Committee met on Wednesday, November 20 during the CSAC 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County to discuss human trafficking in California and the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), and took action on the committee’s 2025 policy priorities, and the CSAC AOJ Platform, which is revisited every two years. Read more. 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: Agriculture, Environment & Natural Resources Policy Committee The Agriculture, Environment, & Natural Resources (AENR) Policy Committee met on Wednesday, November 20 during the CSAC 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County to discuss key topics including the Climate Bond (Proposition 4) and its impact on California, the potential of county fairgrounds as climate resilience centers, and wildfire 2025 policy priorities, focusing on community resilience, energy storage, and wildfire insurance, and reviewed updates to the AENR chapters of the CSAC platform, which are revisited every two years. Read more. 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: Government Finance and Administration Policy Committee The Government Finance and Administration (GFA) Policy Committee met on Thursday, November 21 during the CSAC 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County to discuss trends impacting county revenue, including inflation, home values, and consumer behavior, and to hear from county executives on budget-related issues. The committee also took action on the CSAC GFA Platform, including adopting new sections on Artificial Intelligence, the Public Records Act, and election cost support, and approved the committee’s 2025 policy priorities. Read more. 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: Health and Human Services Policy Committee The Health and Human Services (HHS) Policy Committee met on Tuesday, November 19 during the CSAC 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County to discuss the Foster Family Agency insurance crisis, Proposition 1 planning, and First 5 California’s child care campaign. The committee also took action on its 2025 policy priorities and adopted changes to the relevant chapters of the CSAC HHS Platform, which is revisited every two years. Read more. 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: Housing, Land Use & Transportation Policy Committee The Housing, Land Use and Transportation (HLT) Policy Committee met on Tuesday, November 19 during the CSAC 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County to discuss diversifying transportation funding sources and county experiences with the Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Fleets regulation. The committee also took action on the 2025 policy priorities and the CSAC HLT Platform, which is revisited every two years. Read more. WORKSHOP RECAPS Back to Top 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: Navigating Challenges for FEMA Reimbursement Workshop The Navigating Challenges for FEMA Reimbursement Workshop was held at CSAC’s 130th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County. The panel was co-moderated by Supervisor Diane Burgis of Contra Costa County and Supervisor Zach Friend of Santa Cruz County, who also serves as the CSAC Health and Human Services Policy Committee Chair. Read more. 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal Justice-Involved (CalAIM JI) Initiative Workshop During the 130th CSAC Annual Meeting in Los Angeles County, the Health and Human Services (HHS) and Administration of Justice (AOJ) policy teams convened a panel of county leaders from Inyo, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Yuba, as well as leadership from the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), to discuss best practices and implementation of the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal Justice-Involved (CalAIM JI) Initiative, also known as the Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative. Read more. 2024 CSAC Annual Meeting Recap: The Evolution and Impact of the CSAC Grants Initiative The CSAC Grants Initiative (CGI) held an engaging panel discussion during the Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 21. CGI, originally envisioned by then-CSAC President Ed Valenzuela (Siskiyou) three years ago, has grown into a pivotal resource for counties navigating the evolving grant funding landscape. Read more.
