Subject: Comments re the Tuscan Ridge Planned Development Rezone
Dear Board of Supervisors;
I am a resident of the county, my zip code identifies me in Paradise. I am a Camp Fire survivor. The
Tuscan Ridge Planned Development Rezone raises many concerns.
The Tuscan Ridge Planned Development Rezone (PUD21-0001), with
ensuing Vesting Tentative Subdivision Map (TSM21-0002), and Minor Use Permit
(MUP21-0002) is poorly thought out, and in violation of code and common
sense considerations.
There is the violation of the scenic code as set forth in Chapter 10 of the Butte
County General Plan, Section C, article c:“Scenic Highway (-SH) Zoning -The Butte
County Zoning Ordinance uses the Scenic Highway Overlay Zone (-SH) to establish
standards to preserve the natural aesthetic qualities of areas visible from roadways
designated as scenic highways by the State of California or the Butte County Board
of Supervisors. This includes: the Skyway with its expansive views of the Northern
Sacramento Valley and Coast Range”.
We are a county that has endured several wild fires. We can not afford to rubber stamp
development. We need to consider the risks posed by the changing climate.
The LAO (Legislative Analysis Office) proposes serious considerations in their Impact Report. The
CWPP (Community Wildfire Protection Plan) this involves whole community, federal, state, tribal and
county partners coming together to increase safety and protect houses, businesses, and
environments . The plan has pertinent and relevant information. Best put by the California
Environmental Quality Act : Bringing more people near flammable wild land leads to more frequent,
intense, destructive, costly and dangerous wildfires. These analyses, plans and Acts provide insight
and foresight for future development. Do not overlook these sign posts of information.
I respectfully request that you vote No the Tuscan Ridge Planned Development. The proposal is blind
to drought, wildfire, greenhouse gas emissions and the potential cumulative and negative impacts
on the community.
Thank you
