Please exercise judgment before opening attachments, clicking on links, or replying.. Many homes in Stirling City are on lots too small for onsite wastewater. The shared septic system is essential for the continued habitation of these residences and the survival of the town. Residents recognized this by voting in favor of year-after-year service fee increases to keep the system operating. Since that was what the state demanded in exchange for one-time funds to replace failing infrastructure, a commitment the state now prefers to evade. While this loan forbearance provides necessary short-term relief, the county should press for a long-term solution to keep this tight-knit historic community viable.
