State Route 162 Oroville Rehabilitation Project Construction Begins
Project to Improve Pavement, Drainage and Safety Features through Oroville
OROVILLE — Caltrans is alerting motorists that construction activities are beginning today
on the State Route 162 Oroville Rehabilitation Project. Work is scheduled to begin April 20
and continue through the construction season. Most construction activities are expected to
occur at night and on weekends to help reduce impact to the traveling public.
During the first phase of work, crews will begin locating underground utilities and vacuum
truck operations, along with site preparation, construction area signage installation,
environmental controls, site survey work, and project setup activities. These startup
activities will require intermittent traffic control along State Route 162.
Additional work, including pedestrian access modifications, roadway demolition, grading,
and concrete work, is expected to begin in early May. Work is weather dependent and
subject to change. The project will be active throughout the corridor, with work progressing
in phases over the coming weeks.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11
Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work
Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews
performing these improvements.
Caltrans issues construction and road condition updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on
