Dear Frank L. Blackett:
For tracking purposes in this letter and moving forward, PG&E separated R-5 into R-5a
and R-5b, as is described in Enclosure 1. This letter reports on the completion of Pacific
Gas and Electric Company's (PG&E) efforts to address Recommendation 5a (R-5a) and
its plan and schedule for Recommendation 5b (R-5b) from the 11th Part 12D safety
inspection report (dated January 2021) for Bucks Diversion Dam, which is part of
PG&E’s Bucks Creek Hydroelectric Project, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
(FERC) No. 619. PG&E submitted its original plan and schedule for addressing R-5 in a
letter to your office dated April 1, 2021, and provided its most recent update in a letter
dated May 3, 2022.
A summary and conclusion of PG&E’s efforts to address R-5a and plan and schedule
for R-5b are provided in (Enclosure 1) of this letter. A report on a seismic analysis of the
intake tower is provided in (Enclosure 2). PG&E’s technical memorandum summarizing
the report is provided in (Enclosure 3). PG&E has reviewed the consultant-prepared
report and does not completely concur with the information within, as described in
Enclosure 3.
PG&E believes R-5a has been satisfactorily addressed by on the information enclosed
