State Route 99 Gridley Project Update
Night Work Continues; Major Roadway Work Scheduled to Begin Later This Month
GRIDLEY — Caltrans is alerting motorists to ongoing construction activities on State
Route 99 in Gridley as crews advance towards the final stages on a $27.3 million
pavement rehabilitation and complete streets project.
Current construction activities are primarily taking place overnight, with crews working
from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Operations include drainage pipe installation near the Sheldon area,
along with ongoing electrical work, landscaping, and sign installation throughout the
corridor.
Work is being performed at night to reduce impacts on the traveling public, and no
significant delays or driveway restrictions are anticipated during this phase.
The project has reached several key milestones, including substantial completion of
sidewalks, driveways, and curb and gutter improvements. The remaining work focuses on
final roadway activities, including pavement rehabilitation and striping.
Construction impacts are expected to increase later this month, with roadway excavation
scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 26. This phase of work will involve more intensive
operations and may result in increased traffic impacts for motorists traveling through the
area.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11
Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work
Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews
performing these improvements.
