Thank you for submitting permits for your building project. The permit documents have been reviewed and
comments are listed below. Please respond in writing to each comment. Complete and clear responses will
expedite the re-check and approval of this project. Please provide two revised plan sets with your response.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
1. Please reference on the plans the 2013 California Building Code (CBC), 2013 California Residential
Code (CRC), 2013 California Electrical Code (CEC), 2013 California Fire Code (CFC)
NON-STRUCTURAL COMMENTS:
2. Provide and show a detail of the deck ledger attachment to the building’s exterior wall.
Where decks are supported by attachments to an exterior wall the deck shall be positively
anchored to the primary structure and designed for both vertical and lateral loads. Refer to 2013
CRC Sections R507.2, R507.2.1, R507.2.2 & R507.2.3. (Refer to the Figure below)
3. Please provide a flashing detail refer to the following:
a. 2013 CRC Section R703.8 Flashing. Approved corrosion-resistant flashing shall be applied
shingle-fashion in a manner to prevent entry of water into the wall cavity or penetration of water
to the building structural framing components. Self-adhered membranes used as flashing shall
comply with AAMA 711. The flashing shall extend to the surface of the exterior wall finish.
Approved corrosion-resistant flashings shall be installed at all of the following locations: #5.
Where exterior porches, decks or stairs attach to a wall or floor assembly of wood-frame
construction.
