Re: 2014 Annual Mine Inspections
Dear Mrs. Longnecker:
Please be advised that the annual mine inspection for the following mines have been tentatively scheduled;
Robinson Pit(CA Mine ID#91-04-0005) -Thursday,October 61'at 8:30 am.
Wildlife Area Mine(CA Mine ID#91-04-0004) -Thursday,October 61'at 9:30 am.
Power House Mine(CA Mine ID#91-04-0034) -Thursday,October 6"at 10:00 am.
Almond Avenue Mine(CA Mine ID#91-04-0018) -Thursday,October 6"at 11:30 am.
The Surface Mining and Reclamation Act(SMARA)requires Butte County to conduct at least one annual
inspection for each mine,which must be performed within six(6) months upon receiving a Mining Operation
Annual Report filed by the mine operator. Overall,the intent of the inspection process is to:
• Ensure that the mining operation is compliant with SMARA and the Butte County mining
regulations;
• Observe if existing conditions of the mine site are in accordance with the requirements of the
approved reclamation plan;and,
• Verify that the current financial assurance cost estimate is adequate to reclaim disturbed lands.
Upon completion of an annual inspection,an inspection report will be prepared by our office and forwarded to
the mine operator and State Office of Mine Reclamation within 30 days of the inspection. The inspection
report will include information about your current reclamation plan, observations made by the inspector, and
any corrective measures that should be addressed. The inspection report that you receive will ultimately be
required when you file the Mining Operation Annual Report for the following year.
